HHj,I am Marina and I am planning my days in Tromso and in Hammerfest because I want to see Northern Lights(in January-February).I want to ask you:I travel alone and I do not drive, can I see Northern lights from (inside) the city?Is there a place near the city where I can go to observe the northern lights?Can I go there alone with my feet or by bus or train?I tell you again that I travel alone and I do not have a guide.Thank you for your attention, and I am lookinig for your answer.

SShould there be northern lights in the skies when you're visiting Tromsø and Hammerfest, you will have absolutely no problems finding a good spot to observe from - unless you're standing directly below a street lamp, that is. :-)
Some people prefer to hike up a mountain observing the northern lights to get the full experience of mother nature. But, sure, you can stay within the city, as long as you avoid areas with a lot of artificial lighting, such as street lamps, signs, traffic etc.
And remember, your eyes need about half an hour to adjust to darkness, but only a few seconds to lightness.
當你來到 Tromso 與Hammefest 時, 在那裡當然會有北極光. 你絕對可以亳無問題找到一個好位置來觀測. 除非你將會直接站在一個街燈之下.
有些人較喜歡爬到山上來觀看與體驗大自然的北極光. 而肯定的是, 你可以待在城市裏, 你只要避開人工的燈光的區域, 比如街燈,訊號燈,交通車輛 等等....
請記住, 你的雙眼需要在黑暗中有半小時的調適, 只能有幾秒鐘的些許亮度.

II would like to take my husband to Tromso this year for his 60th birthday on September 20th 2006. What are the chances if we stay 3 nights of seeing the Lights?

WWhen travelling a great distance to observe the northern lights we recommend staying for one or two weeks. The northern lights are impossible to predict, and there are many factors in viewing them.
For one, there has to been enough solar activity three days ahead, so they'll be visible at your location. The aurora season is from late August to April, so normally the activity should be high.
The sky has to be clear - the lights can not be seen through clouds. And the weather in Tromsø is very unpredictable.
Tromsø is a good place for northern lights observations, and the static shows us that the lights are seen there very often... But we can't give any guaranties and can only wish you good luck.
當來到一個很遠的地方來觀測北極光時, 我們建議停留1到2星期. 這北極光是很難去預測的, 要看到它們是要有很多要素.
首先在三天前要有足夠的太陽能量, 才可以在你的所在地看見它. 極光的季節是從8月底到4月, 正常情況下這些活動力是很高.

Lots of things have happened the last few days! Did the video for "What if" this weekend, and now I'm in Taiwan.
Video first! had to get up at 5:30 in the moring! Way too early for me. Then I had to get ready, and drive for an hour to the location. Of course, it was the coldest day I've experienced so far in months so I woke up very quickly! The weather was fantasic, sunny and nice, but I didn't see the low temperature coming! Not the best day to drive convertible! But that was what I did! Drove back and forth for about 6 hours. After that, I had another 3.5 hours outdoors. I had to defrost after that ! We did the rest of the shoot indoors, and finished about 1:30 at night. A very long, but great day !!!
Then Taiwan! That is where I am now. Travelled for about 21 hours to get here, but time went surprisingly quickly. We got a great welcome at the hotel ! Very, very nice people! Now, the most importtant thing is to get into their rhythm. There is a six hours time-difference, and that takes some time to adjust to.
The last few days have been great! And I'm looking forward to the days to come.

過去幾天有許多事發生! 這個週末製作了 '如果...' 的影帶. 而我人現在已在台灣了.
影帶節目拍攝的開始, 必須要在早晨5:30起來, 對我而言太早了, 而我必須準備好並開車1小時到達場地. 那是這幾個月以來最冷的一天, 所以我要很快的起床. 這天氣很迷人, 晴朗與美好, 但不我知低溫已來臨了.不是很好的一天而要改為開車! 但我還做了. 把車子開回去之後又出去已6小時.在這之後, 我又花3.5小時在戶外. 我必須要解凍了! 接下來就在室內拍攝, 大約在凌晨1:30 結束. 一個非常久, 但很棒的一天.
然而, 我現在已在台灣了. 將近21小時的旅程到達這裡. 但時間出人意外很快就過了. 我們在飯店受到一個很盛大的歡迎! 很棒, 很捧的人們! 現在很重要的事就是要融入他們的節奏. 這裡有6個小時的時差, 是需要一些時間來調整.
最後幾天是非常棒的! 而我正期待這些天的來臨.
